#29: Tarte Tatin

#29: Tarte Tatin

It’s not really Fall if you don’t feel a crushing pressure to make apple recipes, right?

Ughhh, I resist Fall every year, rejecting the excuse to add disgusting pumpkin spice to anything remotely edible and blatantly pointing out that a Fall wardrobe is just a Winter wardrobe that you haven’t grown weary of yet. Give me Summer or give me Winter – none of this in-between nonsense (Spring is also met unenthusiastically).

Even I, however, must yield to the call of the apple desserts every once in a while, and tarte tatin is a lovely reprieve from some of the heavy-duty pastry recipes I’ve thrown at you in the past. For those of you unfamiliar with tarte tatin – imagine an apple-upside-down cake but with a thick slick of caramel and a pastry base instead of cake. You get to use puff pastry and everything!

Now, let’s imagine that you’re the sort of person who not only harbours a distaste for Fall, but for apple desserts as well (or perhaps just the latter since I’m given to understand that I’m one of the few who harps on about Fall). In that case, I’ve also featured a perfect variation on tarte tatin starring the indominable duo of bananas and Nutella. And guess what – I actually think it’s even easier than the apple one, which is already quite simple. There’s nothing holding you back now. DO IT. MAKE THIS.
