#41: Truffles

This is it – this is the year that you finally finally finally do the twee homemade treats thing for the holidays.

I know how this goes – you think about it every year, about how delightfully festive it would all be, then you leave it to the last possible day and therefore it doesn’t happen, period.

You know what the solution is, surely?

You start thinking about it now. You organize yourself this weekend, planning how many and by when and in what and to whom. Then you execute it like the badass bitch that you are. BOOM.

Of course there are still so many other decisions to make as well. You could meander down the traditional route, making either a lusciously rich bittersweet chocolate truffle or a candy-dusted, minty dark chocolate one. Or you could appeal to the alcoholism of the holidays, making a fudgy rumball-esque truffle spiked with a good dose of bourbon. And of course, every crowd needs a black sheep thrown into the mix; this version leans on an unusual but memorable combination of chocolate, tahini, orange, and pistachio that gives a punch of sweet-savoury flavour. All of them look goddamn gorgeous.
