#18: French Toast
Whether you adore sweet breakfast or abhor it, we must all come to grips with the fact that eggs + bread + fried = always acceptable. Although my preferred vessel for consuming said items is usually in fried-egg-on-toast form, both of the recipes below present a convincing case for introducing variety into one’s life every once in a while. The first recipe serves as a perfect prototype for all that French toast can (and always should) be, without being so heavily cloying as to put off opponents of sweet breakfast. The other recipe strikes a perfect balance between savoury and sweet breakfast, without leaning into either side too heavily. Both fulfill the French toast mandate of being short and simple recipes without a lot of faff involved.
